“The victorious culmination of the operation to liberate the Kursk region is a triumph of justice over evil,” said Pak during the 3rd International Anti-Fascist Congress held on the outskirts of Moscow.
He also emphasized that the participation of North Korean soldiers in the actions in the Kursk region has been “a new page in history that demonstrates the strong military partnership between the two countries, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation, and the highest strategic level of allied and fraternal relations between their peoples.”
In June 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed a strategic partnership treaty that included a mutual defense clause in the event that either party suffers aggression.
On Monday, Putin thanked North Korea and Kim for the support provided in expelling Ukrainian troops from Kursk, the liberation of which Moscow proclaimed last weekend. “We pay tribute to the heroism, the high level of special training, and the dedication of the North Korean soldiers who, shoulder to shoulder with Russian fighters, defended our Motherland as if it were their own,” said the Kremlin chief.
On Wednesday, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stated that cooperation between Russia and North Korea is growing stronger year by year.
“We highly value our friendly and neighborly relations with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, feel great affection for your country, and reaffirm our willingness to continue the constructive cooperation that strengthens year by year,” he said during a videoconference with his North Korean counterpart, Pak Thae-song, on the occasion of the beginning of construction of a highway bridge that will connect both countries.
“The construction of this infrastructure will ensure the multifaceted development of bilateral cooperation, including the movement of people, tourism, and trade, which will ultimately give new momentum to the development of relations between Korea and Russia,” Mishustin stated.
